Social Structure
(Roles of Men and Women)
In the Iroquois the women were responsible for raising the children, farming, gathering, and cleaning and tanning the skins the men got from animals they hunted.
Men were supposed to hunt animals, defend their villages from people and animals, and construct the long houses in the villages.
No matter how hard anyone worked at what they were supposed to do they would always get fed the same as everyone.
